Beaches – Pilar de la Horadada

Why not discover some beautiful local beaches in Pilar de la Horadada.  There is a wonderful array of beaches to suit a variety of different needs, covering over 4km of the coastline, varying from intimate coves, white sand dunes and long white sand beaches.  The beaches are very calm and peaceful with the warm water of the Mediterranean Sea allowing for the idea swim. The sea shores do not have any steep slopes, allowing for safe swimming even for young children. The calm and clear waters also make it the ideal location for scuba divers, with a known discovery routes available.

Pilar de la Horadada boasts of various blue flag beaches. In addition, to a wide range of facilities and a good accessibility for disabled people. 

Pilar de Horadada has the following beaches: Vistamar, Mil Palmeras, Playa del Rio, Calas de Rocamar, Jesuitas, El Conde, El Puerto, Las Villas, Las Higuericas, El Mojón.


Vistamar – This is the first beach situated in the northern end of the municipality, bordering the municipality of Orihuela Costa. This beach is connected to the beaches of both Mil Palmeras and Plata del Rio, either by walking along the sandy beach or along the promenade that runs alongside the beaches.


Mil Palmeras – This is an extremely popular beach with disabled access, due to its vast services to swimmers such as a children’s entertainment area, rental of little pleasure boats and beach hammocks. In summer it is common to find an artisanal market located on the nearby promenade. This beach also hosts Hibernis Mare with free activities for all ages taking place throughout the year including zumba, aerobox, tai chi, yoga, kids’ activities, etc.


Playa del Río – Stunning beach where the Rio Seco (Dry River) meets the sea. Just off the beach one can find the Roman Quarry dating back to first and second centuries, which was used by the Romans to extract stone and to make several buildings.


Calas de Rocamar – This beach has a succession of small coves, which attracts those in search of inspiration and looking for somewhere peaceful to relax.


Jesuitas – a charming and picturesque cove next to Puntal del Gato cape from which you can enjoy a magnificent view of the coast of Pilar de la Horadada.


El Conde – A beautiful and picturesque beach overlooked by the watchtower which set the scene. A lovely beach to photograph and share in those holiday photos.


El Puerto – This beach is accessed via a ramp located on the harbour. In summer one can take in the regattas or sports events or even take part in some sailing courses.


Las Villas – This is an ideal beach for children to visit to try and see the crab in the rock pools. It is a beach of fine white sand and clear waters.


Las Higuericas – Lovely long beach with white sand and sand dune created by the sea breeze. This beach has a children’s beach area on the beach and another by the sea-front restaurant. The beach has disabled access and a large carpark.


El Mojón – This is the last beach in the southern end of the municipality, bordering with the Region of Murcia. It has promenade with white balustrades, ideal for a walk by the beaches.
